  • I am one of the 3 founding members of the Pegasystems's India office and have been heading Software Engineering department in Pegasystems' India office since its inception. Software Engineering (Development) is a geographically distributed function in Pegasystems with India housing the largest development center going by the number of engineers.
  • The India teams now cover the entire breadth of the product from the core engine (written in Java) to the User interface using advanced Web 2.0 technologies. The teams are strictly using Scrum as the methodology and are independent teams working in an ownership model.
  • Self organizing Scrum teams consisting of cross functional team members that imbibe the principals of TDD is where we are on our Scrum maturity journey. Changing how teams are organized and redefining roles and responsibilities of various roles have been part and parcel of this journey- challenging but very satisfying.
  • Hiring local Product Owners for the India teams was shot in the arm for bringing more ownership to India center, The focus off late has been to get these product owners more closer to the customers so they can make better decisions.
  • Have been responsible for growing Platform and Cloud team from 0 to around 500 and overall India team to 1400+ including some inorganic growth due to acquisition of 3 companies. This has been a fantastic journey that has not only contributed immensely towards the success of the company but also taught me several lessons.
  • I have constantly looked to lead my teams to exceed expectations by not only delivering product enhancements as per the product road-map but think outside the box and help bring in innovation in the product. Teams are driving the product forward in line with our SMACT (Social, Mobile, Analytics, Cloud and IoT) strategy.
  • I have also been able to turn around the sustaining engineering function by having the teams focus on specific metrics like Customer Turnaround Time using an incentive based approach
