• I am one of the 3 founding members of the Pegasystems's India office and have been heading Software Engineering department in Pegasystems' India office since its inception. Software Engineering (Development) is a geographically distributed function in Pegasystems with India housing the largest development center going by the number of engineers.
• The India teams now cover the entire breadth of the product from the core engine (written in Java) to the User interface using advanced Web 2.0 technologies. The teams are strictly using Scrum as the methodology and are independent teams working in an ownership model.
• Self organizing Scrum teams consisting of cross functional team members that imbibe the principals of TDD is where we are on our Scrum maturity journey. Changing how teams are organized and redefining roles and responsibilities of various roles have been part and parcel of this journey- challenging but very satisfying.
• Hiring local Product Owners for the India teams was shot in the arm for bringing more ownership to India center, The focus off late has been to get these product owners more closer to the customers so they can make better decisions.
• Have been responsible for growing Platform and Cloud team from 0 to around 500 and overall India team to 1400+ including some inorganic growth due to acquisition of 3 companies. This has been a fantastic journey that has not only contributed immensely towards the success of the company but also taught me several lessons.
• I have constantly looked to lead my teams to exceed expectations by not only delivering product enhancements as per the product road-map but think outside the box and help bring in innovation in the product. Teams are driving the product forward in line with our SMACT (Social, Mobile, Analytics, Cloud and IoT) strategy.
• I have also been able to turn around the sustaining engineering function by having the teams focus on specific metrics like Customer Turnaround Time using an incentive based approach

• Responsible for a web based enterprise wide application that was supporting the business 24 X7. The application supported booking cruise and vacations not only for company's own brands like cruises.com, Cruisesonly.com , VacationOutlet but also supported partner brands (private labels) like Orbitz cruises, Sam's club cruises, Walmart cruises, BJ's Vacations, Expedia and Yahoo (past clients).
• The experience taught me the importance of high availability, reliability and usability for web based application to support a business round the clock. It not only honed my management skills but also made me a better human being. People management can't be really taught at school and I will remember this stint in transferring me from a hard core technologist to a well respected people manager.

• The company was creating a electronic marketplace for shippers and truckers. The truckers could bid for various trucking assignments that shippers entered into the system. It was a startup company funded by venture capitalists.
• I was one of the technical leads that was responsible for the security module of the product that was architected and developed using J2EE technologies. The security design supported multiple levels of access control and also provided data visibility across locations and SBUs given the role of the user who was logged in.

• As a consultants I worked for multiple companies helping them in different stages for their Java and J2EE applications. I also worked as a BEA Weblogic consultant to help BEA clients like Logistics.com and Workscape to tune their J2EE based applications for optimal performance. I specialized in performance and scalability of J2EE applications esp. deployed on Weblogic clusters. Often trained C++ developers to design and develop applications in Java and J2EE.

• Leading a team of young Java engineers to build a Workflow engine for an enterprise application suite called Milieu 2000. The uniqueness of the product was that it could have a fully object oriented database as its backend apart from supporting relational Databases.
• The product won laurels in CA World in New Orleans for showcasing Jasmine (OODBS) based software applications.

Jan 1997 – Oct 1998 · 1 yr 9 mos

• Was instrumental in setting a Jasmine (OODBMS) competency centre in Mastek. Mastek was exclusive seller of CA products like OpenIngres, Unicenter and Jasmine. Was involved in supporting customers of these products.
