  • Project: AWS Storage Gateway - a set of hybrid cloud storage services that provide on-premises access to virtually unlimited cloud storage.
  • Technology Stack: Java, AWS, Powershell, AWS Elastic Container Service, Typescript, React
  • Designed and developed load testing framework that provided the team with the means to configure and run custom tests against the storage gateway.
  • Implemented infrastructure orchestration module. It automatically created all required resources in the AWS Elastic Container Service before starting the main test and tore those resources down when the test was done.
  • Created Docker images that are used to deploy a client VM that connected to the Gateway, executed IO operations, measured performance (such as IOPS and bandwidth) and wrote results into S3 bucket.
  • Used AWS Athena to query the results and compare different runs against each other.
  • Designed and developed Case Sensitivity feature. That included writing a design document, gathering feedback from peers, implementing changes to the existing APIs and Gateway code.
  • Implemented changes to the Web Console UI to enable usage of newly developed product features and to improve user experience.
  • Worked on DevOps tasks.
  • Deployed backend and API changes across multiple regions.
  • Configured existing and created new pipelines for automatic deployment of software changes.
  • Performed release activities. That included creating release candidate branch for the new version of the Storage Gateway, lifting feature flags and placing customer's gateways in different release groups.
  • Performed support operations to maintain operability of the system. Handled customer escalations and backend failures in timely manner.

  • Project: Genetic Variant Finding Pipeline
  • Technology Stack: Cromwell, WDL, D, Python, AWS, Scala, GATK3 and GATK4
  • Worked with geneticists to gather requirements for the project.
  • Refactored legacy pipeline code using modern technologies to enable portability to the cloud and improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ported legacy pipeline to Workflow Description Language (WDL).
  • Made it possible to run WDL pipeline on the spot EC2 instances in AWS.
  • Upgraded pipeline to use GATK4 instead of GATK3. GATK is a genomic analysis toolkit focused on variant discovery.
  • Framework includes data gathering component. Tests results are aggregated in S3 and AWS Athena to allow querying of the results.
  • Upgraded some open source genomic tools to improve their performance.
