I work on maps for autonomous driving.
"Maps" here refers to static content in the world (as opposed to dynamic content such as people, cars etc) that the AV (autonomous vehicle) needs to know about in order to drive.
Now the maps can refer to geometry of the environment, lane lines, curbs, maybe signs. The details are typically part of an AV's software stack. The details are also things I can't go into on behest of the company :)
