Liqwid krystal

Product Manager

Jan 2000Jan 2003 · 3 yrs · Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

  • Soumen was part of the initial engineering team at Liqwid Krystal, and played a key role in building the engineering team. The company focused on learning tools for IT skills, and produced tools for testing, virtualized code execution, and e-book enhancements.
  • EBook Reader - Soumen was responsible for the eBook development. This involved converting author data files to docbook compliant xml, and augmenting all the code stubs in the book, such that they could be loaded in our virtual execution environment. This was all packaged and installed over a local web server, with basic encryption. This allowed an author to provide our ebook as an addition to his textbook, and it would allow any code sample to be loaded into our execution environment, where the code could be edited, compiled and run. (This was a key attraction, in that the user did not have to worry about installation of tools, or configuration of paths or classpaths, in order to start learning, it was all managed via our environment.)
