About

I’m an engineer and entrepreneur, currently building Neura Health. Prior to this, I was a Software Engineer at Facebook for 9 years. At Facebook, I built Facebook Live and was the technical lead on that. As part of that, I also worked on video infra and launched the Live Video API. Besides that, I also built comment threading/ranking, video comments, worked on mobile networking libraries that power most of Facebook's apps and several other projects noted below. I also mentored several engineers during my time there. Outside of work, I’m a triathlete and gym rat. I also dabble in photography, which you can check out on IG @sameermadan. Currently living in Manhattan, New York. https://sameermadan.me/

  • Facebook Live:
  • Founding engineer for Facebook Live. I was one of the two engineers who built Facebook Live (early 2015).

  • Multi-Media Posts (2015):
  • I built a way for users to post photos and videos together in one post, and to allow users to put videos into any album. Led the project from inception to launch over most of 2015. Coordinated the launch across people in three offices.
  • A big chunk of our total video uploads now come as part of Multi-Media posts. Instagram (2017):
  • Did a two-month stint on IG Explore. Drove an effort to reduce Explore load times by 25%.
