For twenty-five years, I’ve balanced two professional roles. I'm founder of Synima, a creative video agency. I'm also a UKCP accredited psychotherapist specialising in behavioural and chemical, especially alcohol. As Synima’s founder, I work with a talented international team to produce high-quality visual storytelling for businesses. What began as a two-person operation in London has grown into 50 employees across London, New York, Los Angeles, Zurich, and Amsterdam. Our work spans industries, but healthcare remains a central focus—bringing complex topics to life through engaging animation and video content. These projects allow me to share insights and push the boundaries of how we communicate about mental well-being. My adventure into psychotherapy has been deeply influenced by a strong belief in the magic of animation as a tool for healing. This unique perspective has been the heartbeat of my work, from my early days in private practice to my engagements with employee assistance programs, my writings, and my media interactions.
Starting in the cozy settings of private practice, I began to weave animation into my therapeutic toolkit. It was here that I saw the incredible power of animation to help clients express and navigate their emotions, especially when dealing with challenges like addiction, depression, anxiety, and trauma.
As my journey expanded to include work with employee assistance programs and within organizational settings, my commitment to animation as a healing tool only deepened. Using animated content, I helped individuals and groups in workplaces to visualize mental health concepts, making the abstract more tangible and relatable.
My book, 'To Infinity and Beyond,' is a labour of love that captures my passion for using animation in therapy. It explores how animation can be a dynamic part of treating mental health issues, offering a visual and emotional language that speaks directly to the heart. I've taken my message to the airwaves, appearing on podcasts and news segments to champion the use of animation in mental health treatment.

My foray into acting was inspired by my father, Bruce Boa, known for his roles in 'Fawlty Towers,' 'Empire Strikes Back,' and more. Following in his footsteps, I embarked on my own acting journey, appearing in works like 'Full Metal Jacket,' 'The Dressmaker,' and 'Withnail and I.'
I was once nominated for a BAFTA for a TV commercial titled 'Impulse: Free Spirit,' though Robert Morley clinched the award. No hard feelings there, of course.
Since 1990, I've also ventured into voice-over work, lending my voice to a variety of projects, from TV commercials to radio plays and the BBC's 'Book At Bedtime.' I've even narrated for U.S. documentaries, including National Geographic's 'Crocodile Chronicles.' It's been a delightful ride!

My role evolved as I started handling the 'Technocrane' as a grip, which opened up opportunities for a lot of international travel. I got to film sporting events around the world, like the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, and took on numerous assignments for BBC Outside Broadcasts.
