A Civil Engineer turned Filmmaker, Debanjan Majhi later studied Master’s in Design from the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad. After completing his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, he began his professional career at Larsen & Toubro in New Delhi. However, after a couple of years, he left his civil engineering job to follow his passion and transitioned into filmmaking, starting out as an Assistant Director in feature films, in Mumbai and Kolkata. As an AD, he worked on multiple formats like feature films, documentaries, branded contents, and ad-commercials with reputed organizations such as Netflix, Google.org, Vishesh Films, Chrome Pictures, SVF Entertainment, etc. Following his post-graduate degree in Visual Communication Design at NID, Debanjan built a young team of artists and technicians and began strategizing, producing, and directing projects for organizations like Tata Steel Foundation, World Psychiatric Association, Young Presidents’ Organization, Jameson, Graphite India Ltd, and others. He has also made several independent short films, mini-web series, and documentaries that have received international accolades and awards, many of which are now streaming on platforms such as Prime Video, MX Player, Hoichoi, Cineshorts Premiere, Airtel Xstream. Currently, he is working as a filmmaker under a Long-Term Agreement with UNICEF while continuing to pursue his independent projects.
