I am a data platform engineer who has experience working on a very large breadth of open-source data platform products on both the batch and streaming sides. My journey started as a user of Map-reduce in 2008 and since than I have mainly focused on building the data infra/platform products. The first product that I was part of was AWS Kinesis where I was one of the founding members and was responsible for the storage and control plane. I moved to open source development once kinesis was launched and I contributed major features to both Apache Storm and Kafka which resulted in gaining a deep understanding of all kinds of streaming applications, platform challenges, and innovative solutions in the streaming space. I joined Netflix to get exposure to the batch processing realm. I started with working on spark for a very brief period but moved on to contribute to Apache Druid, Presto, and Iceberg. After Netflix I spent a year at Salesforce where I lead data platform migration out of private cloud to public cloud in the Architect role. I broaden the understanding outside of compute and storage layer and into orchestration, analytical tools and data governance and security.
