  • Led the implementation of the Page Performance Score (PPS) on iOS. Presented both internally and externally (blog post attached).
  • Created, pitched, prototyped, and implemented an app-wide routing service for inter-module and intra-module navigation. Worked with a group of senior engineers to refine the idea and adopt it Airbnb’s codebase. It is the official method of page navigation in Airbnb, more than 70 pages of the app are navigable via RouterService, and our deep-link service is built on top of RouterService.
  • Initiated and led a major shift towards server-styled elements and components built on composability (as well as implemented the iOS side). Earhart is an ever evolving component library used to compose the various sections across the guest-side of the app. Earhart reduces the need for client-side changes and rapidly increases speed of iteration and library expansion.
  • Rewrote (as part of a team of 3) the architecture for the homepage of Airbnb. Led the creation, design, and implementation of the BackStack, Presentation Resource, and Memory Graph/Data Flow. Resulted in a documented, maintainable, testable, embeddable, and extendable homepage and SearchResults page.
  • Architected a generic BackStack capable of rendering any type of Search Results page to enable experimentation, consistent data flow, and code cleanliness.
  • Analyzed and improved app performance, time to interaction, and page performance score.
  • Migrated client features from REST to GraphQl
  • Created a declarative abstraction around UICollectionView that removes directly working with IndexPaths
  • Other improvements: systematic autoplay plugins, VoiceOver, bug fixes, etc.
