  • Unredacted is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that builds Internet infrastructure and services to help people access the open Internet and protect their right to privacy.
  • We believe that privacy is a right and that free, open access to information is deeply important. Together, these principles allow humanity to develop freely.
  • I founded the organization and head it as the Executive Director. I work on our infrastructure, technical projects, funding, outreach and day to day operations - essentially having my hands in every part of the organization.

Systems Administrator II

  • As a level 2 Systems Administrator, I have the same roles and duties as when I started with the addition of being a point of escalation for level 1 roles.

Systems Administrator I

Oct 2016Jan 2020 · 3 yrs 3 mos

  • At GigeNET I mainly work with CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian dedicated/virtual servers and am familiar with most other (popular) Linux based distributions. I spend my days watching the ticket queue and working with customers on any technical requests, issues or questions that they might have. I have plenty of experience with Linux systems and am proficient in setting up and or troubleshooting various software stacks such as Apache, NGINX, MySQL & PHP.
  • Day-to-day tasks include:
  • Answering support tickets and assisting customers with any issues, concerns or questions that they might have.
  • Answering incoming support phone calls.
  • Scheduling and performing software/hardware maintenance.
  • Building and deploying dedicated servers.
  • Troubleshooting Linux/Windows servers.
  • Responding to Nagios/Icinga/NOC alerts.
  • Managing our R1Soft backup servers.
  • I am also not restricted to one specific task and working at GigeNET gives me a very broad understanding of all data center work.

Systems Administrator (Intern)

Sep 2016Oct 2016 · 1 mo

  • I applied to work as an intern, although I had many years of experience working with Linux as a hobby, I had no professional experience until I started at GigeNET. I worked there from September to October as an intern and then got hired as a Systems Administrator part time, eventually getting on board full time a few months after. I learned more than I ever have, working as an intern at GigeNET. Was a great experience!

Front Desk

Jan 2016Oct 2016 · 9 mos · Elmhurst, IL

  • At the museum I worked as a front desk receptionist. I took admissions, answered visitor's questions and answered all incoming phone calls. I also assisted with anything IT related including the museum's website. I created one of the interactive video play screens downstairs and maintain the computers. I continue to consult with museum staff and assist with technical issues as needed.
