• Founding member of the Amazon Aurora Multi-Master team, developing the core protocols to enable a true multi-writer database engine on top of Aurora's distributed shared storage. Owned significant parts of the database engine including index maintenance, transaction processing and recovery and garbage collection. The engine delivered zero downtime failover availability and a 4x increase in max throughput for Aurora Mysql
• Owned core parts of the AuroraMysql Engine including Indexing, Garbage Collection and Transaction Management. Lead a team of engineers in the effort to bring Mysql 8.0 compatibility to AuroraMysql. Also owned the operational health for the organization pushing the organization towards a more robust and sustainable operational model.

• Worked on AuroraMysql's core Database Engine Team focusing on the lower half of the database and delivering key performance improvements, including shipping key features like Parallel Read Ahead, Key Based Prefetching and Numerous Binlog Replication performance improvements. Also actively engaged with customers as part of operations to get a better sense of the problems that were needed to be solved for them.
• Mentored other engineers and led projects related to overall Aurora Mysql Performance improvements.

• Worked with Amazon Database Services, and successfully created a cluster management and trouble-shooting system. This 'operational console' was responsible for aggregating all the information from the components of the cluster and present them in an organized and intelligible manner.
• This console would eventually increase the productivity of the team manifolds. Although the project was still work under progress when I left, I had the pleasure of owning an entire piece of end-to-end software which ran on state-of-art technologies like GWT, GIN, MVP design patterns etc.
• Apart from being a great learning experience, the internship provided fresh perspective on the current practices in the industry.
