• I made Portrait Displays' Pivot product commercially viable by designing a new architecture which provides excellent compatibility and performance. Pivot has shipped with millions of displays and the Pivot capability has become a "checkbox" item which any quality PC display is expected to support.
• I contribute to VESA (Video electronic standards organization) standards such as MCCS, DDC/CI, DPVL, and Packet Video. I chair the Packet Video group
• I develop "proof of concept" applications for LCD display, and TV product concepts.
• I developed Portrait's first display control application which was used as the basis for Display Tune which has become Portrait's new revenue driver. This new capability is well on its way to achieving "checkbox" status. This feature is an implementation of the MCCS and DDC/CI standards promulgated by VESA.
• I organized Portrait's software development efforts by building software production systems to maximize efficiency and traceability.

• I ported MCI’s operator console from DOS to OS/2 which included porting its new PM interface, IP (UDP) communications, and switch communication. The Console communicates with a large number of AIX Servers, and several 3090’s.

• I designed the VS-1681 Computer controlled Audio/Video switch which is used by A/V professionals ( Videographers ), in the security industry, and by telephone products manufacturers. The switch was bought in quantity by; Phillips, Martin Marietta, and Northern Telecom.
• I developed a digital photography system used by appraisers, real estate agents, and insurance adjustors. The system was sold as IDS Digital PhotoShop, and High Per Foto. It was a nationally marketed product and was also used by the state of California.
• I designed predictive dialing systems which utilized Natural MicroSystems telephone interface and DSP boards and run under OS/2.

• I ran a small consulting firm which provided full service custom software development, network installation and support, and hardware computer system sales. Software was developed under C, Clipper and Paradox to meet customer requirements.

• As an army reservist I attended the Defense Language Institute (DLI) in Monterey California. This is an immersive language course.

Jan 1984 – Aug 1987 · 3 yrs 7 mos

• Development of dental and medical billing system (ugh!). The program kept all patient records and also produced all insurance forms. I originally developed the system for CP/M and MP/M systems but later converted it to the (still new) IBM-PC platform.
