• Isovalent develops Cilium, a leading open source Container Network Interface for Kubernetes. I split my time between maintaining ebpf-go, contributing to Linux upstream and working on the Cilium code base itself.

• I worked on Cloudflare's custom Layer 4 load balancer which is implemented in XDP and Go. The majority of Cloudflare's traffic, and by extension a good chunk of global Internet traffic, goes through it. As part of this work I also contributed to the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem.
• Previously, I co-designed and built the Golang key-value store that replicates all of Cloudflare's configuration data across their 100 (and counting) data centers. In a two year project we migrated all internal services to the new system without downtime, improving the response time 99th percentile by several orders of magnitude.

• As Programme Director, I worked with our startups on their product, helped them understand their customers needs and troubleshooted their technical issues.

• Let's Gaze allows couples in a long-distance relationship to enjoy a movie together. It is a fully web-based application that uses real-time video and voice communication to create an immersive experience. While Let's Gaze was not commercially successful there still are hundreds of active users today.
• I was the technical co-founder and built the whole product in React and JavaScript / Node.js, using WebRTC P2P connections for real-time, low latency data exchange and voice / video calls. For the second iteration I built a backend in Golang that exposed chat rooms and playlists via REST over WebSockets and serialized state to a PostgreSQL database.

• tado° builds smart thermostats and AC controllers for private homes and small businesses that adjust to the residents’ behaviour in real time, saving money and reducing environmental impact.
• I built a proof-of-concept for their Contiki-OS / MSP430 based embedded device that replaced a home-grown HTTP based communication with MQTT over TLS. This required writing an MQTT client and broker in C and porting a TLS library to run in 60kb RAM and 30kb ROM on an ARM Cortex M3.

• TÜV SÜD specialises in testing, inspection, auditing, certification, training, and knowledge services. Since 1866, the company has remained committed to its founding principle of protecting people, property and the environment from technology-related risks.
• As part of TÜV SÜD's corporate development department I conducted research into a broad range of topics, including energy grids and carbon sequestration. My work fed directly into presentations informing the board of directors.

• Tangram is the rights holding body for my late father's documentary films. During his lifetime, Christian's films were regulars at film festivals all over the globe. He won the German Grimme-Preis (for Der Ami geht heim) and was shortlisted for the Oscar (with The Ritchie Boys).
