That mindset has taken me from founding engineer at an early-stage startup, through two years in fintech at PhillipCapital, to backend engineering at Korn Ferry — one of the world's largest executive search firms. Along the way, I've learned that the most expensive line of code is the one nobody questioned. What that looks like in practice: At Korn Ferry, I inherited an API that took 25 seconds to respond. Instead of scaling the server, I mapped the data flow, redesigned the Redis caching strategy, and got it under 1 second. The problem wasn't compute — it was architecture. At PhillipCapital, I didn't just build backend services for financial workflows. I built the observability layer too — Prometheus, Grafana, structured logging — so the team could see failures before users did. Then I cut 25% of operational costs by replacing manual processes with a custom ERPNext system. And reduced manual effort by another 20% with Python automation pipelines. At Bellex, I sat with the CTO and made architecture decisions that would define how the system scaled. I built the microservices layer, implemented Kafka for async messaging, and deployed the whole thing on Kubernetes — then helped junior engineers understand why each decision was made.
