About

Co-founder of Employees for our Future, a new NGO helping professionals to contribute to sustainability at work. We activate the 'silent majority' of professionals who like to see change, but are not activistic. This is the majority, but many don't know this and thus remain silent (so called Pluralistic Ignorance). We provide a community, network, tools and inspiration to help employees drive change from within. We also provide a voice to this group, with aim to depolarise sustainability. The foundation is in process of retrieving ANBI status. In my previous role at Shell, I was driving the energy transition by accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles from both professional and operational fleets. Within Shell Fleet Solutions I was advising fleets how to transition to zero carbon, which means mainly electric vehicles, but for heavy duty vehicles in the transition also Renewable Diesel (HVO100) and bio-LNG, until Hydrogen might come in the mix for long-haul duty-cycles as well. Working on emobility since 2016, when working at McKinsey Energy Insights, where I co-authored articles on eTrucks and eBusses, and I supported Waterland in their acquisition of Heliox. In my three years at NewMotion (now ShellRecharge Solutions) I was supporting the CEO with strategic questions and was preparing Board meeting materials towards Shell. Next to my daily role at Shell, I was chair of Future Energy Leaders at Shell, the grassroots green team within Shell. Aim is to increase awareness about the energy transition, reduce scope 1-3 emissions through projects, and interact with leadership about Shell's decarbonization strategy and actions. NOTE: Opinions written during my time at Shell were my own, and did not always represent the views of Shell

Life after oil

Volunteer "change from within"

Feb 2026Present · 3 mos · Virtual · Remote

  • Volunteer for the inititive "Life After Oil", for current and former employees in the Oil & Gas sector, who like to see more action for the energy transition. I personally (still) believe in change from within, so want to encourage employees to speak up in meetings and online and join the green team (/sustainability community) or find a sustainability role.
  • This builds on my experience as chair of the Future Energy Leaders community in Shell, and is fully aligned with the purpose of my foundation: "Employees for our Future"

  • Co-founder and chair of the foundation "Employees for our Future". The two main goals of the movement are:
  • 1. Employees are inspired and empowered to work from within toward building a future-proof company.
  • 2. Organizations are encouraged to embed sustainability structurally into their operations and strategy.

Career transition

Apr 2025Sep 2025 · 5 mos · Amsterdam, North Holland

  • Sabbatical to recharge my batteries after Shell and orient on new opportunities to fight climate change from September onwards. In parallel I also shape the public debate, for example by recording podcasts.
  • I'm now working to start a new climate movement, because I believe there is a gap where there is no adequate platform for professionals to contribute. If we find funding, my aim is to do this fulltime.
  • Initially I explored a few other options as well: (i) Policy & Advocacy, including government and lobbying, (ii) Sustainable Finance, (iii) Corporate sustainability, incl. Head of ESG/Chief Sustainability Officer and (iv) consultancy in the area of climate risks and stakeholder communication.
