• My work as a Staff Applied Data Scientist is focused on the routing and scheduling of deliveries and the related estimation. Also the matters of pricing need to be considered in the route optimisation. Working in the role includes coordinating bigger cross-team and cross-company projects. Also mentoring others and sharing knowledge and best practices comes with this role. The work combines data science, ML and software engineering in general. The combinatorial optimisation systems, which are making the routing decisions at Wolt, need to have ultra high availability. Any downtime would cause the whole company to have downtime.

• I worked as an interim engineering team lead in Wolt’s Logistics Assignments team from November 2024 until mid-March 2025 during the team lead's absence. The Logistics Assignments team is responsible for developing and maintaining the assignment engine at Wolt. The assignment engine plans the routes and matches the tasks to the courier partners. This is a critical part of the company’s software and it needs to run day and night and operate under heavy loads at all times.

• I have been working at Wolt's logistics domain since the beginning of the company's scale-up phase. The role has included many things and doing "what it takes" to make things work. I've been writing C++ code to the optimizer, done traffic modeling, setting up our switchback experimentation platform and practices, building CI/CD in Github Actions. Some more software engineering related tasks have been setting up monitoring and testing for the optimizer. This role has been combination between working as a backend engineer and a data scientist diving deep in both domains.
• This is the same role as I had as the Logistics Optimization Researcher but transferred from the Engineering organization to the then newly founded (Applied) Data Science organization.
