About

Prof. Kharbanda is Director of Orthodontics and Cleft Care Centre, Delhi and Professor Emeritus With NAMS. He is the former Pro Vice-Chancellor of Health Sciences at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS), Bangalor and Chief of the Centre for Dental Education and Research, Professor, and Head of the Division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Deformities at AIIMS, New Delhi. Before joining RUAS, he held a distinguished position: Dr CG Pandit, National Chair, conferred by the Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delh Dr Kharbanda served in many additional roles. He served as Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre on Oral Health, and as Chief of the KL Wig Centre for Medical Education Technology and Innovation (CMET-i). He successfully steered the Government of India's National Oral Health Programme (NOHP). He conceptualised and founded India's first exclusive, dedicated national facility for dental research. Prof. Kharbanda is an internationally recognised figure in the Dental World, particularly in Orthodontics, Cleft Lip and Palate, Dental Education, Research, Innovation, and Community Health Dentistry. He has shaped and continues to contribute to the profession with immense zeal and enthusiasm as a clinician, author, reviewer, researcher, leader, innovator, collaborator, orator, and organiser. He serves as an advisor on oral health and related matters to the government and other professional bodies. Author of two well-recognised textbooks in orthodontics and several research manuscripts, he continues to mentor and support faculty and postgraduates. He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Sydney, the University of Western Australia, La Trobe University, and the University of Connecticut. His main research interests are 3D imaging and automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), 3D Printing, Cleft Palate Orthodontics, Functional Appliances and long-term outcomes, Non-Extraction Treatment, Innovations, Community Dentistry, and Dental Public Health.
