I build backend systems that operate at scale without falling over — and I've been doing it for 12 years across three continents' worth of engineering problems. At Wood Mackenzie, I owned the technical direction for a global energy analytics platform as Principal Engineer. Today I'm embedded within SEEK's platform engineering team, modernising distributed Node.js systems at production scale. My work sits at the intersection of distributed systems, platform engineering, and increasingly, AI-augmented infrastructure. I specialise in three things: → High-scale backend systems — designing and operating platforms that handle tens of millions of daily requests with low latency, high availability, and operational confidence. → Platform modernisation — breaking apart legacy monoliths into maintainable, scalable service architectures that let teams ship faster without accumulating debt. → Performance engineering — diagnosing systemic bottlenecks and redesigning the architecture around them, not just patching symptoms. More recently, I've been building LLM-based orchestration into backend pipelines — integrating AI workflows into production infrastructure in ways that are reliable, observable, and actually useful.
