About

I am Software Engineer at Qualcomm and working in XR Software team. I am currently working on MVHEVC Dolby Vision requirement for XR glasses. I was Senior Software Engineer at Ittiam Systems and worked on Video codecs and Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) in Android media framework of Google. Implemented Google CDD requirements (Media) for performance class devices. Worked on performance and integration of av1 decoder named dav1d in android. Also worked on GPU programming in Vulkan to write image processing functions. Worked on camera APIs such as Camera2, CameraX and iOS avfoundation and implemented android and iOS camera applications using these APIs. Received Spot Award for my contributions. I was Software Engineer Intern at TomTom from Feb 2022 to June 2022 and worked on Java and python technologies. Worked on scripts for data normalization to improve success rate of geocoding. I was Software Development Intern at IDeaS- A SAS Company from July 2021 to December 2021 and worked on full stack development with Angular 8 , Springboot and SQL Server as a technology stack. Implemented i18n framework to translate website into multiple foreign languages. Worked on UI, Api implementation and data integration from backend to frontend.

  • Implemented end-to-end AV1 support for the PC-VR project, enabling both USB and Wi-Fi (UDP) streaming modes. This ensured that rendered frames were encoded on the PC, transferred efficiently, and correctly decoded for display on the HMD (XR device).
  • Worked on adding MVHEVC, Dolby Vision Profile 20 and HDR10/10+ features on HMD / XR glasses for a major VR customer. Collaborated with cross-functional teams to thoroughly validate functionality, identify issues, and drive fixes to completion.

  • Integrated the dav1d AV1 decoder into Android by validating it against the existing gav1 decoder and analyzing differences in performance, threading and memory usage under different configurations. Debugged and resolved failures under sanitizers and CTS/VTS tests. Contributed improvements, profiling workflows and supporting tools to help ensure a smooth and reliable transition from gav1 to dav1d.
  • Improved the overall runtime and stability of VEQ requirement for performance class Android devices.
  • Removed heavy script dependencies and replaced them with parameterized, in-APK logic, while also fixing underlying workflow issues. Optimized VMAF computation with multi-threading and introduced a new VideoEncodingApk that reduced encoding time significantly. Overall, these changes streamlined the workflow, reduced storage requirement and host–device transfers, and brought the total runtime down from nearly 2 hours to about 40 minutes (67%).
  • Delivered bug fixes and improvements to Android’s libavc and libhevc codec libraries. Contributed framework-level enhancements for video codecs and the Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) within Android’s multimedia framework at Google.

  • Improved and modernized CTS MediaCodec tests by updating legacy test frameworks, adding new codec capabilities, and streamlining encoder/decoder configurations. Worked on expanding support for additional codec parameters and media formats while reorganizing test setups to make them more scalable, reliable, and easier to maintain.
  • Implemented Google CDD requirements (multimedia) for performance class devices. Updated existing requirements to ensure devices can reliably support high-end media use-cases (4K, HDR, AV1/HEVC, multi-instance sessions).
  • Reproduced and fixed issues in the Android multimedia framework across Android versions. Identified root causes related to extractor, encoder and decoder behavior, and verified fixes through relevant tests to ensure overall stability.
  • Developed Vulkan compute shaders to accelerate image processing operations.
  • Built camera apps using Camera2, CameraX and AVFoundation APIs, and shared hands-on insights and developer-focused feedback with the Google to help improve Android based Camera2 and CameraX APIs.
