  • I work on a team of engineers focused delivery solutions for different areas of Grubhub's business such as Delivery and Corporate. This work mainly focused on back-end systems written in Java with Cassandra persistence layers. As a senior engineer, I was primarily an individual contributor in our sprint process but also served a number of other roles. I frequently architected new microservices or major updates to existing microservices and provided feedback to other proposed solutions as well. I would also help plan, create tickets, and facilitate grooming so the entire team could reached a shared understanding of the work. Mentoring more junior members and collaborating with my peers to improve the overall quality of our solutions is something I particularly enjoyed.
  • Outside of my normal duties, I have also participated in the company blog and contributed to a number of continuous improvement activities.

Fifth third bank

Java Consultant

Jul 2011Aug 2013 · 2 yrs 1 mo

  • The first project I worked on at Fifth Third was for tracking COD orders for a large national shipping firm using Wicket and Java technologies. I started the project as one of the junior developers and by the time I rolled off I was the lead developer/architect. My responsibilities included release planning, managing an offshore team, performance enhancements, and critical production support. The application had critical batch job that ran each weekday night that if failed had to be fixed within a matter of hours. In event of these failures I would have to fix any broken data on the fly and restart the job to meet the SLA.
  • I also worked on the Portal Modernization application in the bank whose goal was to upgrade one of their legacy commercial products to use Spring/Wicket/Hibernate. I was the lead developer on core module and managed a team of mixed offshore/onshore developers. I was initially placed on this project to provide guidance and quickly took lead of development to meet impending deadlines.
