Durga Prasad Sahoo — Software Engineer
I am a security research engineer with interest in hardware and software system security. I'm having a long academic career in computer science - B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Tech. (University of Calcutta, India) and Ph.D. (IIT Kharagpur, India), which is one of the magical factors for all my success in today's journey in industries. I believe in as Einstein said, "education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think". My Ph.D. thesis was on secure physically uncountable function (PUF) design and its implementation on FPGAs. Although side-channel and fault analysis were not my major research topics, I have learnt fundamentals from my colleagues and mentors during my Ph.D. days in IIT Kharagpur. From 2017-2020, I was part of product security team in Bosch India (RBEI). I have worked on a spectrum of security activities in automotive domain, and the most of them are required for ISO-21434 (Automotive Cybersecurity Management). My activities in Bosch include penetration tests of automotive ECUs, and continuous security test throughput an ECU development lifecycle; security design for automotive ECUs with features like secure boot, secure update, secure debug, secure diagnostic, secure communications, security logging, etc.; threat and risk analysis, security concept writing, requirement engineering, designing test cases for security features, etc. From 2020-Present, I am part of Synopsys, India. I'm working on DARPA Automatic Implementation of Secure Silicon (AISS) project as a security R&D engineer and involve in activities like secure silicon supply chain and secure provisioning of silicon. In addition, I'm exploring various security aspects of Synopsys Silicon Lifecycle Management (SLM) product portfolio. I prefer to be an individual contributor with technology focus (research and development). I am interested in: SoC security, automotive ECU security, web application security, secure system design with RoT, HSM, TMP and various TEE technologies (e.g. ARM TrustZone), security validation, and development in C/C++, Python, and Verilog for RTL design. I would like to explore design, implementation and validation aspects of security for chip (hardware-level security) to cloud spectrum which seems to be big and challenging, but interesting.
