• During my career gap, I took the opportunity to focus on preparing for competitive exams, mainly the Civil Services Exam conducted by the UPSC. I believed that I could make a positive change for the mankind and serve my country through a career in the bureaucracy. This required a significant amount of self-study and dedication, and I learned valuable skills such as how to manage my time effectively, study for long hours, and deal with failures. I also gained a deeper understanding of how countries, cities, and villages function politically, socially, and economically.
• Despite missing the final spot by a small margin in a few exams, I still consider it as a successful journey, since it helped me gain a wealth of knowledge, skills, and develop persistence that will be beneficial in my future endeavors. I studied a multitude of diverse subjects, to name a few, linear algebra, calculus, electronics, economy, international relations, ethics and more. I recognize that service to the country and mankind can also be done outside the bureaucracy and I intend to strive for this with a career in the tech industry.
• During my undergraduate studies, I had interest in computer science and took a few related courses. However, I did not pursue it at the time for various reasons. To begin my journey into the tech industry, I took some refresher courses that provided a solid foundation in computer science concepts and helped to rekindle my interest in the field.
• I have now dived into the tech industry for a career in data science, ML, DL which I find very interesting and rewarding to learn. I believe that the knowledge and skills that I gained during my career gap, both academic and non-academic, will help me become a good leader in AI. Artificial intelligence is an interdisciplinary field, and I believe that my diverse background will allow me to bring a fresh and unique perspective to the projects that I get involved into.

• As co-founder of the Institute Student Mentorship Program (ISMP) at IIT Ropar, I was responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive mentorship program for freshman students. The goal of ISMP was to provide guidance and support to students on a range of critical issues, including academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, and how to achieve a healthy balance between them. The ISMP team has grown to more than 100 mentors and thousands of students as mentees, and I am proud to be a part of the founding team.
