Detection of Bias in English Sports Newspapers

This research project aimed at identifying bias or favoritism in the reporting of the outcome of IPL matches in news sources. We collected 10,000 headlines and first paragraphs from the sports section of over 10 Indian local English newspapers. Using CoreNLPStanford parser we identified the subject, object, and root of sentences and trained different statistical and deep learning models to identify their relationship. Word embedding of the data was made using Glove.
