  • In Amazon I worked in the payments BU of Amazon India Retail which manages payment processing during purchase by customer. My team developed a frictionless payment method Amazon Pay Later (APL) and subsequently managed it.
  • MY KEY PROJECTS
  • Help acquired over 2 Millions customers within 30 months by design and develop the Customer Onboarding System.
  • Enabled customers to use APL payment method by helping design and develop Loan Management System which is responsible for loan issuance, cancellation and repayment.
  • Drove repayment default rate from 20% to less than 3% by helping design and develop Repayment Reminder System which sends different notifications to customers.
  • Reduce customer onboarding friction and turn around time from more than 7 days to 2-3 hours by building KYC Inheritance System which allows KYC of Pay Balance to be inherited. This also increased the onboarding rate by 5 times. Later, with 1 week of dev effort this project was extended to inherit KYC of CBCC underscoring the extensibility of the project.
  • Reduced customer perceived latency from more than 45 seconds to less than 2 seconds of APL transactions by optimizing SQS, Lambda and Amazon internal workflow systems.

Druva

Senior Software Engineer

Dec 2013Dec 2017 · 4 yrs · Pune/Pimpri-Chinchwad Area · On-site

  • In Druva I worked in backend system development and storage teams.
  • MY KEY PROJECTS
  • Save 80% of DDB costs by removing hot partitioning for following DDB table:
  • i. File’s ACL reference table for highly deduped common ACL.
  • ii. Inode entry table for large directory.
  • iii. File-system usage table.
  • Reduced backup time from 1-2 hours to typical of 10-15 Minutes for 10 GB of sparse region of thin provisioned file by replacing 2K DDB items of BMAP by 1 DDB item of bitmap. This also reduced DDB write from ~2 millions to ~1000 thus saving proportional cost.
  • Without impact backup time, Compliance anomaly detection system is added, this is done by deferring processing of compliance task post backup with the help of journal event log.
  • Eased admin job by enabling migration from standalone deployment to Private Cloud deployment by merging standalone deployments configuration databases to private cloud master database.

senior software engg

Dec 2008Aug 2012 · 3 yrs 8 mos · Hyderabad, Telangana, India · On-site

  • In InMage, I worked in device driver team as kernel development engineer.
  • Key Projects
  • Extend product support for production deployment that uses clustered devices by helping launch appliance based CDP products which enabled the company to attract larger enterprise customers, ultimately contributing to its acquisition.
  • Thin driver project which enables drivers to upgrade without needing for systems to restart. This helps customers to deploy updates in a timely manner.
  • Solaris Host Project which enables host based CDP to extend from Linux OS to Solaris OS. During Solaris support, I have taken a huge code refactoring task for device driver code in order to make the code easily extendable to other Unix OSes like AIX, HPUX. The code refactoring helped reduce dev effort from 80 weeks to 12 weeks.
  • Improved the IO processing time by 25% by simple changes in private buffer pointer.
