• Existing Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) are mostly inapplicable in developing regions due to high cost and assumptions of orderly traffic. With the advent of wearable technology such as Smart watches and Smart glasses it has become possible to use crowd as a dynamic source for the collection of traffic data. Various sensors like camera and microphone are exposed in these devices which give us the advantage to use them for recording video, sound etc. Previous approaches like the use of traffic cameras, overhead cameras, etc are sophisticated, but costly and static. In this work we have focused on how to optimally collect and process big-data like video, potholes, etc obtained from wearable gadgets used by the crowd using a combined approach of optical flow and background subtraction methods and finally applying object detection and tracking techniques on them for detection of on road congestions and efficient monitoring of road traffic.
