Led a project in which we study how network traffic characteristics of IoT and non-IoT devices differ leveraging real "in the wild" data from Minim, a cybersecurity firm. Proposed and implemented a hybrid signature and machine learning approach to fingerprint IoT devices from network traffic using their hostname/domain access patterns yielding 94% precision/recall, higher than most other state-of-the-art fingerprinting methods.
Wrote a 10+ page research paper (accepted to the IoTDI 2020 conference) on our work.
