Brady Murphy is an Associate SWE at Capital One, currently focusing on iOS development for Consumer Identity. Brady studied Computer Science and Mathematics at Virginia Tech and graduated in May 2020. Brady augmented the autonomous car future as a path planning engineer for the Victor Tango AutoDrive team. He is also empowering CS students at Virginia Tech with his software knowledge as an Intro to SWE and iOS Teaching Assistant. Brady has shown invigorating character and problem-solving skills during his work at NASA where he helped forge and launch NASA’s satellite cybersecurity simulation and threat evaluation plan. Brady’s high academic achievements such as being on the Dean’s List with Honors and being recognized by The Observer magazine for his magnetic levitation research directly correlate to his passion for software engineering in the professional sector. In his future, Brady plans on deploying path planning software that addresses the moral and ethical concerns that reside within the machine learning and mobile application industry. Brady is also known as a self-starter, demonstrated by his numerous entrepreneurial accomplishments outside of school where he has successfully constructed and delivered patent design diagrams for a surgical tool, recorded multiple software-engineering podcasts, and constructed robots to solve real-world problems. Brady loves challenging his knowledge-base and is currently developing a tele-medical application to increase access to care for americans. Outside of engineering, Brady focuses on maximizing his leadership qualities and transforming the capabilities of his peers through his roles as a Sig Phi Epsilon Sigma coordinator and as the Astrobotics Path Planning team lead. When Brady is not starting new companies or making the world fully autonomous, he enjoys giving back to the community through VT’s CS mentoring club and walking dogs at his local shelter in Montgomery County. His hobbies include grilling, playing the guitar, and watching the Capitals beat the Penguins.
