About

I'm a Software Engineer at Stripe and I am a part of the Data Platform org with a focus on data serving infrastructure and search systems. My work involves building, maintaining and operating large-scale distributed systems and infrastructure including several tier-0 systems that are crucial for Stripe's operations. Previously, as a software engineer at Airbnb, I worked on the Payments platform, focusing on identity foundation and payment authentication. My work revolved around building large-scale systems in the domains of payment risk, fraud, KYC and identity. Before joining Airbnb, I worked at Amazon for a brief period as the first SDE hire on a new team. Before that, I interned at various companies, ranging from pre-seed startups to FAANG, in domains such as ed-tech, e-commerce, and analytics. I helped build features and products from scratch, often owning mission-critical components. I am a generalist who enjoys building products and services from scratch. I value ownership and delivery, and I am always eager to learn new skills and technologies. I am passionate about solving challenging and impactful problems that make a difference in the world.

  • Large-scale, high-performance data pipelines.
  • Backend and platform engineering for Foundry Pipeline Builder. I contribute to a multi-engine execution layer that compiles arbitrary abstract data transformation logic into optimised physical plans, thereby enabling transparent workload orchestration across distributed Spark, Flink for streaming, and single-node compute via Apache DataFusion.
  • My work involves building a standard library of custom data operations and engineering the underlying Intermediate Representation (IR) layer that binds them together.
  • A core part of my role is ensuring high-fidelity interoperability, guaranteeing that logic executes consistently regardless of the underlying compute backend.

  • Software engineer on the Payments platform, working on identity, risk, fraud, compliance, and authentication problems.
  • 2023 – 2025
  • Built an end-to-end risk profiling system for 20 million+ users, integrating ML models (Dynamic Risk Models), Airflow data pipelines, Kafka-based alerting, and real-time enforcement actions, performing 1 billion+ monthly risk computations.
  • Contributed to revamping Airbnb’s KYC, Risk, and Sanctions infra - defining new data models, storage architectures and building large-scale data processing pipelines with Apache Spark, Flink, Airflow etc
  • Contributed to one of the company’s most complex projects to date - an effort to solve critical data fragmentation across multiple systems and flows into a single consolidated and authoritative user data store. Helped build systems that handle over 10k QPS of traffic as part of the multi-year Long Term Architecture initiative.
  • 2021 - 2022
  • Built a solution to conditionally enable IVR-based OTP for users, reducing customer drop-off while minimising fraud and abuse.
  • Integrated in-session machine learning models to provide risk-based remediation paths for users stuck at various authentication steps. This initiative affected 1 million+ users and reduced customer support tickets by 10 thousand+/month.
