About

Hi, I'm Darshan Jain. I work as a Senior Lead Software Engineer at Heaptrace, but more than titles, I enjoy solving real problems with tech that actually makes a difference. Over the years, I've built a lot of stuff — from fast and secure apps to systems that need to scale without breaking. I’m big on clean code, but even bigger on why we build something and who we build it for. These days, I’m leaning more into leadership — not just in title, but in helping engineers grow, take ownership, and build with confidence. I’ve worked a lot with AWS services like EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS, S3, and the rest. Beyond just building, I’ve helped teams cut down cloud costs (sometimes by thousands of dollars), and ensured our systems tick all the right compliance boxes - HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2 - without losing speed or flexibility. Tech aside, I’m always learning. New tools, patterns, and better ways of doing things, I genuinely enjoy staying current. Not because I have to, but because I want to. A few areas I work in: Languages & Frameworks: Java, Spring Boot, Python, Django, Node.js, JavaScript Cloud: AWS (heavy focus), some Azure too Infrastructure: Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes Monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo Collaboration: GitHub, Bitbucket, JIRA, Slack, Teams I’ve also helped hire and onboard engineers, mentored folks right out of college, and created training material to get them up to speed quickly. I like creating an environment where people feel challenged but supported. I believe that’s how we grow — by learning together and helping each other. If you want to talk shop or just connect, feel free to reach out: nnd.darshan@gmail.com. Always happy to exchange ideas or share what I’ve learned.

  • I’m currently working as a Senior Lead Software Engineer, and over the last couple of years, I’ve ended up doing more than just writing code. I got to build out our DevOps team — hired people, figured out a structure that worked, and helped folks grow into their roles. It wasn’t always perfect, but I think we got a good rhythm going.
  • I also ran our internship program — from scratch, really. Set up the onboarding stuff, made a plan for what they'd work on, and made sure they didn’t feel like they were just dumped into the deep end. Some of them ended up joining full-time, which was nice to see.
  • One thing I’m especially proud of — I helped push through the AWS Partnership for our company. That opened up a lot of new doors — more visibility, AWS credits we could use on internal products, and even support for some clients to get their MVPs off the ground without burning through cash too fast.
  • Outside of all that, I’ve worked on projects across a mix of industries — healthcare, IoT, marketing, and fintech — mostly with clients from the US and Europe. Got my hands dirty with stuff like Kubernetes, Terraform, Grafana, Node.js, and Python. A lot of that work was about making sure the systems were stable, scalable, and wouldn’t fall apart when traffic picked up — the usual engineering goals, I guess

  • Over this period, I ended up working on quite a few healthcare projects. My role was pretty hands-on — I’d usually help plan out the overall structure, set up how we’d handle deployments, and make sure everyone on the team knew what they were working on. If someone got stuck, I’d jump in to help. I was also in regular touch with clients — just talking things through, figuring out what they actually needed, and coming up with options that wouldn’t break the budget but could still handle growth down the line.
  • There was one project where we built a new kind of data pipeline — event-driven, using stuff like S3, Lambda, and a graph database. Before that, data processing used to take forever — hours, really. The new setup got that down to just a few minutes. Honestly, that was one of those changes that just made everything feel faster and smoother.
  • I also worked with tools like Keycloak for managing logins and permissions, and we used HashiCorp Vault to deal with secrets. For product insights, depending on the use case, we’d plug in platforms like Mixpanel, Amplitude, or even just Google Analytics. On top of that, I’ve been part of the ongoing process of cleaning up how we work — like tweaking our Git branches, improving how we deploy code, and getting better at managing tasks with Jira. Nothing fancy, just trying to make the day-to-day dev flow a little less painful.
