Historically, I was CTO then CEO of SensePost, a penetration testing company founded in 2000 in South Africa. Our team of hackers spanned the UK and South Africa. We then joined Orange Cyberdefense and did two things - the first was to expand our little community of hackers between the UK and South Africa, to encompass the now global teams of hackers within the group. This is the ethical hacking director role. The second was to change our South African operation from only offering penetration testing to the wider set of managed security services Orange Cyberdefense offers. I’m responsible for our South African operation - this is the managing director/country manager role. That said, I’m a hacker at heart. I started in security by way of academia in the early 2000s, then spent a few years hacking and consulting, until I was given a chance to help run SensePost and now parts of Orange Cyberdefense. I’ve performed technical work, presented my research from Mainframes to WiFi at Defcon and other conferences, started and assisted in running some conferences and given more presentations than I’d like to remember.
