Dr. Kuhu Roy — CEO
Dr. Kuhu Roy is a clinical nutritionist working in the area of metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease and other metabolic lifestyle disorders. She has a decade long experience as an independent consultant guiding clients pan-India. She is a peer reviewer for several international journals and has international and national scientific papers to her credit. In her first attempt, she cleared the National Eligibility Test for Lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, India and was promoted to a Senior Research Fellow of the UGC. She has also served as a State Level Eligibility Test faculty. A gold medalist, she enjoyed University merit scholarships during her undergraduate and post graduate years of learning. Her other side makes her India's first Pet Loss Grief Specialist. With more than two decades of hands on experience in taking lifelong care of more than four thousand stray dogs in Baroda along with her mother, she saw several deaths, but the death due to negligence of her dog named Butter was the final blow. Thereon, she made it her mission to normalize the conversation around the loss of companion animals in India, which was presented at the International Society for Anthrozoology 2024 and at the American Psychological Association Summit 2025 since her grief support service escalated to the global scale. When streets get too cold and cruel for survival, she adopts stray dogs with special needs; blind, paralyzed, amputees. She believes this marginalized segment of stray dogs is worthy of love and a home. She has co-authored ‘Can a stray dog become man’s best friend? 5 steps to harmonious living with stray dogs,’ decoding the Animal Birth Control programme to create awareness regarding spay and neuter. She believes that ABC is the only means to strive for man-stray dog harmony and has been requesting the Government to digitalise the scientific programme for accountability and transparency, regardless of the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023. She is also the Director of the Bridging Rainbows Foundation and a vociferous advocate for road safety for all under her non-profit's Give Animals a Brake campaign.
