About

With over 12 months of hands on internship experience I have grown from a student into a capable software engineer. I spent this past year building real world products in fast paced environments including the high stakes fintech sector. My work involved handling live market data. I learned that speed is everything so I learned WebSockets to show live data instantly and optimized heavy screens to avoid lag. I also used Web Workers to move heavy work off the main thread, keeping the UI fast and smooth. I also took ownership of building products from the ground up. I converted initial designs or wire frames into fully functional dashboards and ensured the code was clean and reusable using React and TypeScript. I focused heavily on performance and achieved high scores in Core Web Vitals because I believe nobody should have to wait for a page to load. I used to think being a software engineer was just about writing code blindly all day but I have realized it is mostly about staring at the screen and wondering why the computer is doing exactly what I told it to do. Through my experiences I have learned that true engineering involves deep discussions about why we build certain features and what the actual product requirements are instead of just typing away at a keyboard.
