• Took a break from the private sector for joining the Digital Transformation Team, a new government entity established within the Italian Government, at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, with a strong and centralized governance, composed of experts in technology, law, public administration and communication, in order to design a strategy and technology path for the digital transformation of the country, and to supervise the activities of the current digital agency (AgID).
• My duties included assessing (and improving) security and cybersecurity infrastructures, processes and practices of those digital platforms and web sites coordinated by the Digital Transformation Team or other Public Administrations’ departments.
• Worked on strategic projects such as PagoPA (digital payments), SPID (digital identities), CIE (physical national ID card), ANPR (a single, national resident population register), Developers Italia (open development platform for digital public services), Designers Italia (open design platform for digital public services), Data & Analytics Platform (Big Data platform for storing, analysing, improving and re-distributing data and insights).

• My biggest responsibility was to turn their mobile technology (bundled in a VoIP client available for Nokia, Android and iOS-based devices) into a marketable, enterprise-grade, solution. Something provided both as SaaS (software as a service, hosted) and as a fully configurable appliance installable on your organization's servers, meeting a wide range of security and regulatory requirements. Different needs that were handled by creating a platform with consistent support across bare metal, virtualized servers and the cloud, with flexibility to move applications on demand ensuring the quality of service, high availability, failover and scalability.
• All aspects of system administration – monitoring, security, automation, backups, performance tuning. Maintenance of Red Hat/Debian engineering labs, JBoss QA lab, VoIP infrastructure.
