• I worked on ensuring the security, privacy, trust, and safety of mobile apps on Android, the world's most popular operating system. This included addressing (a) non-compliant or abusive content such as pornography, gambling, and impersonating apps, (b) malware apps such as trojan horses, spyware, phishing, and toll-fraud, and (c) behavioral abuse such as ad-fraud and PII exfiltration.
• We leveraged technologies such as deep learning and generative AI, privacy preserving AI (federated analytics and federated learning), static analysis, dynamic analysis, threat networks, responsible AI, and reverse engineering. We worked on server-side infrastructure, client side app and platform code installed on billions of phones, AI/ML algorithms, and we closely partner with thousands of reviewers and reverse engineers, as well as the policy, legal, and operations teams at Google.
• In addition to this engineering leadership role, I also oversaw the product analytics, business intelligence, and data science functions relating to the privacy, security, trust, and safety of the Android ecosystem. I worked with the team on designing and revising metrics, extracting insights, designing experiments, and analyzing trends.
