• This was not a software dev role. This was a shot at the analyst side of me, mainly to understand what kind of data is collected by the biggest Market Research firm in the world and types of analysis done on that data, before I started my Master's course in Computer Science at USC where I specialize in Data Science..*
• Received training in Data Analytics and Market Research from leaders at Nielsen. I was a part of the Consumer Insights- Automobile team, Mumbai.
• My role was to understand the problem our clients were facing, or find ways our clients could improve and suggest Research designs for the same problems.
• It involved :
• Choosing the right target audience
• Deciding on which geographic areas to cover
• Setting the sample size
• Next step was to design the questionnaire for the clients. This was followed by briefing the Nielsen Field Team on how to ask the questions. In some cases, I also accompanied the field team for the initial respondents to see if the questionnaire had any recurring problems which had to be changed.
• This was followed by keeping a check on the data collected and if the sample sizes were being met in the correct ratio. At the end of the field work, data was cleaned, and analyzed. Important trends were searched for. These were displayed to the client as needed and solutions were suggested for the problem statement.
