My PhD research was in the field of Molecular Microbiology, and aimed at investigating the effect and role of the amino acid L-arginine on Streptococcus gordonii biofilms, particularly the impact it can have on gene expression and biofilm formation itself. I was supervised by Dr Nick Jakubovics and Dr Matthew German of the School of Dental Sciences, and Prof Waldemar Vollmer of the Centre for Bacterial Cell Biology.
