• Working as an EMI/EMC Subject Matter Expert responsible for ensuring EMC compliance to various international standards.
• Starting from the PRD (Product Requirement Document) during the early Design Phase, I evaluate the EMI/EMC Compliance requirements of the countries where the product need to be sold, and ensure that they are met as per design. I get involved in the HW design process from the early design phase, reviewing PCB schematics, Board layouts and Mechanicals based on frequencies generated on the board and the various regulatory standards that the product needs to meet. I provide inputs to CAD, Mechanical and HW engineers and help them design a product which will meet all the regulatory and customer requirements like CISPR 32/35, EN 300-386, FCC part 15, NEBS requirements like GR-1089, Railway requirements like EN 50121-4, smart Grid requirements like IEEE 1613.
• My role requires defining a test plan based on the various country requirements keeping all the necessary tests in mind like Radiated/Conducted Emissions, ESD, Surge etc and provide guidance on the filtering and protection requirements. Ensure a proper Preompliance testing during the Proto phase and debug the EMC issues identified during testing.
• Worked on standards like CISPR 22, 32, 24, 35 EN300-386, IEC 61000-X-X, Railway requirements like EN50121-3/4-X, ITU standards like K-21, K-44 etc. Also familiar with NEBS requirement like GR1089.
• Working in the field of EM design for 23+ years, I have excellent understanding of EM design issues and have debugged multitude of problems for RE, CE, ESD, Surges, EFT etc. A through understanding of EMI Shielding concepts and to use them in Mechanical designing of products.
• Used Microwave/EM absorbers for solving EM issues which cannot be solved with Shielding alone. Worked with EMC Simulation engineers using CST Microwave Studio, evaluated design issues and recommended methods to solve possible EMC issues.
