• It is a Chair Professorship, filled against this role statement:
• The Chair will be a distinguished academic position occupied by an eminent person who
• is a national and internationally recognized expert in the field of advanced digital
• education technology who has helped develop innovative and novel methods to deliver
• online and distance learning lessons in the fields of information technology, health,
• primary and secondary education, livelihood and important social causes that may have
• benefited millions of learners in India, to educate themselves and greatly enhance
• their employability.
• Preference may be given to experts who have worked in the spirit of ICT based
• education, namely, that it is an equaliser: carried out research and development
• keeping the need of people who don’t have good teachers, from rural and remote parts
• of the world, and not fluent in English.
• The Chair Professor's work will have received recognition and extensive support in the
• field of Education Technology
• In addition, the Chair Professor will help initiate new academic programs and
• consolidate existing programs
• Initiate and provide expert guidance in R&D programs supported by government
• agencies and by industry
• Provide academic and technical leadership in the broad area of their respective field
• Improve interaction with Industry through consultancy work and distance learning
• continuing education programs
• Undertake such other academic activities as may be relevant and in the interest of IIT
• Bombay.
