Karthik was born and raised in Bangalore. He completed his Bachelor’s in Engineering in Electronics and Communication from Malnad College of Engineering (Mysore University), Hassan, India in 1989. Karthik has been in the Hi-tech Industry for 34+ years in Bangalore, India, working for companies such as Wipro, Microsoft, IBM and now Google. Karthik is proficient in entrepreneurship, product management & marketing, business development and developer relations. Karthik delivers talks at various events on technology and sustainable living practices, Karthik is active on social media. In the last seven years, at Google in India leads their Developer Relations & is responsible for the adoption of Google AI technologies : GEMINI, GEMMA, Vertex AI (Google Cloud) Duet AI, etc and other Google technologies : Android, Firebase, Flutter, Web, etc. Karthik has also managed regions like Middle East, North Africa, West Asia and Asia Pacific for Developer Relations and Ecosystem building efforts with devs & startups. Currently Karthik leads a team at Google that is responsible for enabling and empowering the developer & startup ecosystems through various developer and startups programs like Google & 3P communities, experts, Mentors, Influencers, Accelerator, Bootcamps, etc As an entrepreneur, Karthik’s journey began in 2007, he co-founded ThinkVarsity IT Career School to solve the employability challenges being faced by the IT Services Industry. Ever since, exiting this startup in the year 2010, Karthik has been involved in growing and enabling the startup ecosystem through various community led efforts in India through IBM and Google. Karthik has spent over 1,000 hrs mentoring early stage startups through Google for Startup Accelerators, IBM Smart Camp and with other Industry partners Since 2016, Shyla (his wife) and Karthik (a Climate Change & Net Zero fellow) have been practicing sustainable living. They founded Yash Farm Stay, which is located near Electronics City in Bangalore, India to promote agro-tourism. Their guests get to experience the low carbon footprint farmhouse built using earth architecture (mud house), powered by solar energy, and use water conservation / harvesting techniques. They run residential workshops & volunteering programs on sustainable living & natural farming. They are shareholders in Nesara Farmers Produce Organization (FPO), Thally, TN. As organic farmers they actively contribute to the FPO and mentor fellow farmers to make organic farming of millets, pulses and veggies financially sustainable and climate friendly.
