I work with enterprise CISOs and their teams to navigate the collision of AI and cybersecurity: defending against AI-powered threats while harnessing AI to strengthen defenses. Over 24 years, I've built three companies at this intersection: Transilience AI, Network Intelligence, and the Institute of Information Security. My journey started as a self-taught penetration tester. I presented at Blackhat in 2004 on detecting web application attacks, then expanded into governance, risk management, forensics, and incident response. That hands-on technical foundation shaped everything that followed. In 2001, I founded Network Intelligence as a one-person operation. Today, it's a 500-person global cybersecurity consultancy with operations across the US, Middle East, and Asia. In 2023, we acquired Ilantus to add Identity and Access Management to our capabilities. In 2024, I co-founded Transilience AI to tackle what I see as the next frontier: AI-native cloud security and vulnerability prioritization. The attack surface is evolving faster than human analysts can track. AI isn't optional anymore. I've co-authored two books: Linux Security And Controls (ISACA) and Metasploit Framework (Syngress), along with numerous articles on information security. When I'm not building companies, I'm climbing mountains. Both demand the same thing: preparation, persistence, and knowing when to push your limits.
