• Managing the Last mile Delivery experience team

• As a Staff Engineer I am leading the Performance optimisation track for the last mile delivery platform along with few other business initiatives. Below are some of the major accomplishments -
•  To improve overall monitoring & alerting front we created Splunk Exception dashboard, Prometheus integration, Grafana monitoring dashboards to get real time view of key application metrics like the request count, latency , exception count and get timely alerted on the critical exceptions.
•  Based on the metrics we picked flows where the latency was high and worked on the optimisation of those flows. In one the key Kafka flows we were successful in reducing the Overall DB write by around ~ 2.5 million.
•  I was responsible for driving the Stress testing of the Last mile delivery platform. As part of the testing we published quite a high load around 50K orders per minute using In house Jmeter agent platform in production and made sure that the real production orders are not impacted. We were successful in identifying the grey areas that needed improvement before we go to the holiday sale events.
•  On the business initiative side I was responsible for designing & delivering the Return pickup initiative as part of which the Last mile delivery platform was going to be used to pickup return orders from customer location and drop it back to store.

• As a Senior Software Engineer I worked in Last Mile Delivery Team and was involved in onboarding multiple Delivery Service Providers like Doordash, Pointpickup, Uber, Roadie etc for delivery of Walmart Orders. Below were my roles & responsibilities -
•  Was involved in high level design of orchestration layer that integrates Walmart Last Mile Delivery platform with different above mentioned Delivery service providers(DSP's).
•  Was responsible for closing API integration contracts with DSP's, implementation of the same and ensuring that all API integrations (Booking, Cancellation, Tipping , Update) works as expected.
•  Was also involved in designing a Webhook micro service that consumes location update of ongoing deliveries from different DSP's and process it for Live tracking of ongoing deliveries.
•  Was responsible for launching delivery batching feature with all major DSP’s. Batching means delivering multiple customer's orders together in a single trip. This resulted in 70+% of overall delivery orders getting batched and thereby saving a lot of money on delivery cost for Walmart.
•  Responsible for scaling & performance testing of DSP orchestration platform and Webhook service. Ensuring that all critical components can withstand heavy load during Walmart Thanksgiving/ Black Friday online sale event.
•  Responsible for developing overall alerting & monitoring using tools like Grafana, Kibana & Spotlight alerting.
•  Was involved in design & development of many business-critical features in DSP orchestration platform namely Batching, Same day delivery (Delivery Today), No-contact delivery, Crowd Source picking & delivery with Mexico DSP’s, Check-in 2.0 integration, Autonomous & Drone delivery providers onboarding (Cruise/ Zipline), DR (Disaster recovery) readiness.
