  • My time at Georgetown University's Advanced Medical & Public Health Internship was a transformative experience, filled with hands-on learning and professional growth. One highlight was the plastering workshop, where we learned the intricate skill of applying plaster casts, gaining both practical abilities and confidence in patient care. We also toured Nagari Medical Clinic in Nigeria, virtually, gaining insight into a hospital environment where we will soon diagnose real patients.
  • Sessions with experts like pediatric urology surgeon Dr. Rachel Selekman and Drs. Aishatu Adamu and Aminu Abba Yusuf enriched our understanding of patient care, from surgical precision to the art of patient history-taking. The suturing workshop honed our fine motor skills, allowing us to get to know our peers as we practiced together.
  • CPR training with Missy provided essential life-saving skills, while the venipuncture session, under Ms. Danita Allen's guidance, was both challenging and rewarding. By the end, we confidently performed blood draws, a critical medical procedure.
  • We also practiced diagnosing common diseases in Nigeria, which helped refine our clinical skills and decision-making abilities. This program was more than just skill acquisition; it was about building a foundation for our future medical careers. The hands-on experiences, expert guidance, and collaborative learning environment made it an incredible journey. I leave Georgetown with enhanced skills and a deeper passion for public health, excited for what the future holds.
