• As a data scientist at PayPal, I developed machine learning models for predicting customer segments for different PayPal’s use cases. I don two hats: one of a research scientist’s and another of an engineer’s. As a scientist, I identify and compare new models and new features with older baselines to continually improve predictive performance. As an engineer, I productionize predictive models I developed, make them scalable, and automate regular updates of the datasets required by the model. My work has resulted in several million dollars worth of incremental transactions for PayPal.

• I completed my Ph.D. in a computational biology lab with Prof. Chad Myers at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Minnesota. During my Ph.D., I developed and applied data mining, machine learning and network science algorithms in the fields of genomic data integration, cancer target discovery, and drug-target discovery. My main focus was leading an international chemical genomics project in collaboration with experimental biologists at University of Toronto, Canada and RIKEN, Japan to characterize mechanism of action of more than 10,000 natural and uncharacterized compounds. I was able to discover ways to optimize the study so that we could screen the largest chemical genomics study.
