Raihan Khan Raka — DevOps Engineer
I am a DevOps Engineer with 5+ years of experience building and operating Kubernetes-first platforms for production systems. My focus is on platform architecture, automation, reliability, and security, with a strong bias toward opinionated platforms that scale with teams—not just workloads. I have deep hands-on experience designing Kubernetes operators, controllers, and CRD APIs for complex stateful systems. I’ve built and led production-grade operator development for databases and distributed systems including Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Solr, Cassandra, ClickHouse, Druid, and SingleStore, with a strong emphasis on Day-2 lifecycle management. This includes automated health checks, scaling, version upgrades, volume expansion, credential synchronization, TLS rotation, and integration with external secret managers such as HashiCorp Vault. I have led teams in defining stable, forward-compatible Kubernetes APIs, including CRD conversion logic to safely migrate resources from alpha to GA versions with minimal operational risk. I also implemented admission webhooks to enforce default security and operational policies for stateful workloads. A core part of my work has been building a GitOps-driven Internal Developer Platform (IDP) to orchestrate service deployments across multi-cluster Kubernetes environments. The platform enabled self-service workflows with strong RBAC boundaries, standardized delivery via Argo CD, reduced manual operations, and improved developer velocity without sacrificing platform safety. On the infrastructure side, I’ve designed Terraform-based IaC, implemented durable workflows using Temporal, and built CI/CD pipelines covering end-to-end testing, secure image builds, CVE scanning, and automated releases. Security is a first-class concern in my platform work. I have implemented Zero Trust architectures and audited CNCF security projects including Cilium, Falco, Tetragon, Hubble, and Kubescape to inform broader DevSecOps initiatives. I have also led Kafka platform engineering, building controllers for Kafka clusters, Kafka Connect, connectors, Schema Registry, and REST Proxy, along with custom tooling to optimize cluster performance. My foundation is in backend engineering with Golang, building reliable APIs and platform services running on EKS, GKE, and other managed Kubernetes environments. I bring a platform-owner mindset: designing for failure, minimizing blast radius, enforcing strong defaults, and building systems that remain operable as organizations and complexity grow.
