Ravi J. Deka — Co-Founder
I’ve spent more than 25 years being faithful to one idea – use technology to cut environmental damage by turning waste and low-cost materials into things that actually work. That path has taken me through years in the steel sector, handing industrial fuels, and now the two frontiers I care about most: water transport and the circular economy. In 2020, I started Akvotransiro Tech, India’s first serious attempt to replace unsafe traditional country wooden boats. Out of that came BamBateau – a patent-pending way to build tough, affordable bamboo composite boats. From kayaks to flood-rescue craft to 20-seater trimarans, every design is built for safety and scale. Backed by INBAR, ASTEC, NECTAR, and IIT Guwahati, the work has been covered by ThePrint, Network18, Business NE, and The Better India. The next leap is Wind2Water – giving retired wind turbine blades a second life as modular catamaran hulls. This patent-pending approach, already at TRL 5/6, takes one of the hardest recycling problems on earth and turns it into low-cost, ultra-efficient water transport. A finalist in the European Innovation Council’s Circular Economy Contest, Wind2Water has been featured internationally in WindTech International, JEC Composites, CompositesWorld, Boating NZ, and more. Before that, I worked on making dirty industrial fuels burn cleanly through emulsification – projects profiled in Fortune India, Moneycontrol, and Manufacturing Today. I’ve also written for Business Standard, GFiles, Sunday Observer, and Outlook Traveller, and was the first to push motorcycle travelogues and lifestyle writing into India’s automotive press. Now I’m looking for partners in the wind power and nautical worlds, and investors unafraid of ambitious bets. The goal is clear – scale Wind2Water globally, set new markers in circular economy design, and shift how we think about both energy and waterways. "Why me? Because I've been the one in the workshop, also filing the patents, running CAD and simulations until my eyes burn, physically building boats, and sitting with dismantlers to understand what actually happens when a wind blade comes down. It's 25 years of grit and hands-on shop floor experience and materials science – and I know how to take something from concept to water." More at: https://www.akvotransiro.co.in
