• Working with the BI team to build Dashboards to help Teams, Managers, PMs and Devs take faster and more data-driven decisions. This involves working directly with the customers to understand their requirements, finding the correct data source, building an ETL pipeline based on the size of the data and frequency of refresh needed and finally determining the right way to present the data to make it easy to consume, using the best UX practices.
• For another project, Developed scripts to help migrate data from one service to another while also exploring means to help people consume data for reporting purposes, securely and conveniently. Also worked closely with the team of PMs to help drive rapid adoption of the new service by recommending tools/ services they can use to programmatically get the data.

• A Service Engineer strives to constantly make the existing process and practices that powers his services more efficient and reliable, thus providing a consistent experience for the end user. Therefore, the biggest asset for him in this endeavor is the Live Site Data, which is used to measure current performance and set future targets. I worked with the Live Site Review Data Team during the summer and:
• Interacted with various teams in Microsoft Sales and Marketing IT (MSIT) to understand what kind of data will make their weekly Live Site Reviews (LSRs) more impactful.
• Studied data available across servers owned by different teams and identified the most reliable sources of useful data.
• Developed a query to import hierarchical mapping useful for filtering: to as low as the application or to as high up as the various Service Offerings at MSIT.
• Created Mock Ups for a summary view (Dashboard) and the Detailed Reports.
• Fully utilized the capabilities of Microsoft’s PowerBI to create the Live Reports and the Dashboard, using the previously created mock-ups.
• Worked on several Proof of Concepts: Refreshing PowerBI dataset by pushing data via C#, Invoking C# functions from SQL Server, Creating an OData Stream from a SQL Server database. Also investigated how the OData Stream could be secured on an IIS Server.
• Demonstrated the product to end users - The Service Engineers and Higher Management, used their valuable feedback to improve the reports to ensure widespread adaptation across MSIT.
• Developed a back-end architecture which would be used in future to bring in all the data at one place, which could then be directly shared with teams using a secure OData Stream.
