About

I'm a Senior Information Security Engineer with 8+ years in the field. I started on the helpdesk and made my way up through network and systems administration before moving into security engineering full-time. My focus is solving security problems end to end, from scoping and design through deployment and operationalization. I've owned full implementations across identity and access management, email security, network access control, endpoint protection, and cloud security. The common thread isn't a single domain, it's the ability to pick up what the environment needs and build it properly. Automation is a core part of how I operate. I've built Python and PowerShell tooling to replace workflows that were slow, error-prone, and unscalable. In one environment, automating account provisioning cut turnaround time by over 50%. Outside of my day-to-day work, I’m building Threat Terminal, a research-driven platform focused on AI-driven phishing and human detection behavior. The goal is to better understand how people actually respond to modern phishing techniques and to close the gap between traditional awareness training and real-world attacks. I present and share this work publicly, including at industry and academic events such as South Florida ISSA, PBSC CyberWeek, and the PBSC Cybersecurity Symposium. I also serve as Director of Programming for the South Florida ISSA chapter. I write at scottaltiparmak.com: practitioner-focused content on identity, security engineering, and things I wish someone had documented better. Certifications: CISSP · CompTIA Security+ · SC-200 · ITIL Foundations
