About

As Chief Analytics Officer of FICO®, I am privileged to both lead a global team of world-class data scientists and pursue my individual interests in the field of artificial intelligence. Further to that privilege, I am deeply honored to have my solo and team accomplishments recognized most recently with: - Constellation Research Award AI150 2025 - Tech Leadership Award from Banking Tech Awards 2025 - Tech Influencer Highly Commendable Award from DataIQ Data & AI Awards 2025 - San Diego Business Journals - Leaders of Influence in Technology 2025 - Tech Leadership - Software & Services Provider from Fintech Futures 2024 - MachineCon AI100 Award 2024 - Innovator Award from American Banker 2024 - Global Finance Innovator Award (FICO) 2023 - Corinium Future Thinking Award 2022 Long before any of these awards, I authored my first AI software patent in 2000. And long before that, I grew my academic roots in theoretical and computational physics. Today I am most gratified to make a difference through: • Innovation: I believe that technology should improve, not imperil, our lives. I’m now in my third decade of data science innovation, with 116 AI software patents granted and another 46 applications pending. • Responsible AI: I’ve been a vocal advocate and inventor of unique intellectual property for the responsible use of AI since 2016; a profound understanding of algorithms enables our society to understand why and how AI must be governed, with data science innovation leading the way. • Creativity: At FICO I've developed a wide range IP and applications for: - Focused language models for deploying Generative AI in a responsible and trustworthy manner - Blockchain for AI model development governance - Interpretable machine learning - Explainable, Ethical, and Auditable AI - And many other anti-fraud, anti-money laundering and financial use cases • Education: The privilege of earning a Ph.D. in physics instilled lifelong curiosity and a motivation to help others. My work with historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) participating in the FICO Educational Analytics Challenge gratifies me most, helping students to better understand our world and the tools to make their communities a more equitable place. When not at the office or on a plane, I can be often be found in my Ford Bronco, exploring the desert around San Diego with my family. In addition, I serve on the Boards of numerous tech industry groups, and delight in interacting with journalists and media of all kinds. To hear more of my views follow me on LinkedIn and BlueSky @ScottZoldi.
