  • Storage virtualization enables a host system to map a guest VM's file system to almost any storage media. On this project we worked on the key features and performance implications for a nested file-system in a virtualized environment and then proposed a file-system organization of data and meta-data which will efficiently organize and enable sharing besides exploiting the power of storage virtualization and maintaining the simplicity in such a highly complex and virtualized environment. The main features of the proposed architecture are sharing (online as well as offline sharing) , efficient snapshoting and scalability. The architecture was inspired from GPFS, WAFL and IBM Storage Tank.
