Mobile Trial Platform (MTP) is a 5G pre-specification prototype platform used for early interoperability tests with key partners. This effort was essential to Intel in establishing an initial foothold in the 5G landscape.
Designed and developed 5G Protocol Stack Data path elements PDCP, RLC, and MAC layers on User Equipment
The L2 Protocol Stack data path elements were based on Intel-Ericsson JTS specifications and the 5GTF specifications. This work enabled successful L2-L2 IODT (Interoperability testing) with key partners such as Ericsson and Nokia. These IODT sessions' success helped establish Intel as a critical partner for 5G in our partners’ minds.
Designed and developed some of the key features based on 5G-NR specifications on the UE side. Some of the changes made were removing concatenation and re-ordering from the RLC layer, adapting to the new MAC, RLC PDU format, re-ordering capability added in PDCP, scheduling the algorithm in MAC etc.
